Personality

Frankie is an extremely curious and clever boy.  As those who know him would say, he’s too smart for his own good, often using his cleverness to get his paws on food or forbidden fabrics.  Frankie finds treasure hunting thrilling.  His ability to remember where you’ve stored his favorite snack, coupled with his creative attempts to retrieve it, are mostly harmless and truly amusing to witness.  His determination has led him to learn how to open doors, windows, drawers, and cabinets, which is impressive.  However, this cleverness means you need to be mindful of where you store food or items you wish to keep out of his reach.

Among Frankie’s favorite pastimes is bird watching.  His fascination with birds leads him to rush to the window whenever you say the word ‘birdy’ with excitement, as he desperately looks for them.  He can spend endless time watching birds, chirping at them, and yearning to hunt them.  In general, large windows with captivating views greatly satisfy Frankie.  A completely cat-proof garden or balcony would be his idea of heaven!

Frankie is very sweet and affectionate even if he enjoys his space now and then, especially around strangers. He uses his tail to hug you, wrapping it around your legs and arms, and offers great head bumps when he anticipates food.  He also enjoys bringing his head close to your face for forehead kisses, rubbing against you, and is always the first to greet you at the door.  He likes to sleep atop or next to you.  If allowed in your bedroom, he and Cleo will request to snuggle under the bed covers with you.  And if you work remotely, they will lay on your arms and lap while you write on your laptop.

Frankie is not as vocal as Cleo but communicates effectively, featuring a sweet voice with a wide range of sounds.  His strong, melodic meow signals desires, whether for food or attention, and a softer one indicates his contentment.  Excitement prompts a specific yowl, usually followed by a brief burst of running. Frankie responds to his name, understands commands like “let’s eat” and “let’s go,” and knows to stop his actions at a firm “no.”  He purrs with excitement upon seeing you in the morning, when food is being prepared, and when he’s extremely relaxed.

Frankie loves food passionately, and offering snacks is the fastest way to his heart.  However, his food intake must be monitored since he is a large boy.  He is not obese, but the vet has advised keeping his weight under 6.5kg.  Besides being a total foodie, Frankie is the cleanest cat you’ll ever meet, grooming himself thoroughly every day and maintaining a mess-free home.  Like Cleo, he is accustomed to receiving baths periodically.

Toys

Frankie is an enthusiastic player, so nearly any toy can be a hit as long as it's closely monitored to prevent ingestion. He adores catnip plants and catnip sticks, and he becomes especially animated with string toys, running around in excitement. Above all, Frankie has a particular love for food puzzles, which not only keep him occupied but also serve as an excellent distraction before bedtime or when you need to leave the house. Another favorite activity involves hunting for treats scattered around the home, either hidden for him to find or thrown for him to chase. This game, often culminating in a well-deserved nap, effectively expends his energy and brings him immense joy.

Diet

He follows a hypoallergenic diet consisting of raw meat (rabbit or turkey) and dry food or fish as snacks, which he loves. This diet not only keeps him in excellent health but also leaves him feeling satisfied, which helps in reducing his urges to consume fabrics.

Crate

Frankie doesn't mind traveling in the crate. Besides short vet visits, he flew from Bahrain to France in May 2022, and then traveled from Paris to Barcelona by train alongside Cleo. In both instances, he was calm and barely complained despite being tiring journeys.
